I initially had some trouble with this remote but it was a settings issue that customer service was able to help me solve. They were incredibly helpful and made sure that I was able to get my remote fixed.
If you notice your numbers don’t seem to correlate with Anki, try opening a word document and type into it. If the numbers DO correlate, then it’s likely an Anki settings issue. Go to preferences if on Apple products and you’ll be able to see what numbers are designated for each of the Anki card options.
